Safety Smart Initiative

The Safety Smart Initiative is a campaign that focuses on public safety programs and education. The Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) issued a report examining the causes and characteristics of residential multiple-fatality fires. Alarming statistics, aligned with many catastrophic stories has compelled the MWF to commit to working alongside the Philadelphia Fire Department and the School District of Philadelphia through this collaborative project that we call the Safety Smart Campaign. Since the campaign’s inception in 2005 up to the present, the outreach has doubled each year. In 2008, the MWF reached out to 4200 students from 12 Philadelphia Public Schools.

The MWF is also proactive in educating the older adult and senior population on various issues affecting their daily lives in the community. Through established partnerships in the local community, we can be effective agents of change by expanding our reach to citizens throughout all communities. Since our dynamic jumpstart as a non-profit organization, we are committed to helping build safe and respectable communities. At the heart of the MWF is the belief that strong, well understood values are the key to success both personally and professionally.
